What is the meaning and effect?

Realist paintings tend to attract attention for their detailed expressions, but this exhibition is organized around the theme of "color." What are the meanings and effects of color on your work?

What kind of image will you have when you move to the next beige gallery while enjoying the change of colors in this exhibition, "Magic of Various Colors—Realism Seen through Colors", which begins with the works in blue? Please enjoy an experience that can only be experienced at the Hoki Museum up close, not by individual artists but by color. There must be new discoveries from the power of colors in the works. This exhibition includes new works by Masayuki Hara, Fumihiko Gomi, Osamu Obi, Takaya Fujita, and Emi Hiroto.

realist paintingWhat is

A painting based on faithfully drawing what you see. However, there are as many ways to draw as there are artists. In an era where digital photography can be taken instantaneously, a realist paints the canvas stroke by stroke. There is something in it that provokes more excitement than reality. The basic idea is to draw something that impresses the artist, and it takes a long time, sometimes a year, to finish one piece. It also leads to the pursuit of what human existence is, something that only humans can do. It is a form of expression different from photography, and based on the basics of drawing as it is, it draws more than that. It is a work of sincere thought. Realistic paintings are paintings that you can enter without any background knowledge.

The Hoki Museum opened in Midori Ward, Chiba City on November 3, 2010 as a museum specializing in realistic paintings, which is rare in the world. The collection consists of about 480 realistic paintings collected by Masao Hoki. Facing Showa-no-Mori, Chiba City's largest park, the lush greenery of Showa-no-Mori, the 500-meter corridor-style gallery with three floors (one above ground and two below) hosts Sosuke Morimoto, Hiroshi Noda, Tadahiko Nakayama, and more. About 150 masterpieces of realism by about 60 contemporary artists can be viewed at any time. There is also a gallery where you can see the forest from the window, which is partly steel-framed and floats in the air. In addition, on the 2nd basement floor, over 100 large works, mainly drawn for the Hoki Museum, are exhibited.
